Why I Created The Auction Link.
Having worked in the property auction industry for many years, I've seen first-hand just how effective auction can be as a way of selling property. But I've also learnt something equally important: there is no single auction model that is right for every property.
A residential property requiring refurbishment in the UK needs a very different approach from a prime waterfront villa in the South of France. An investment property, development opportunity, country estate or exceptional international residence may each benefit from a different type of auction, different marketing strategy and, importantly, a different audience of buyers.
That is why I created The Auction Link.
I wanted to offer property owners and their representatives an independent starting point from which to explore the auction market — without being tied to one particular auction house or method of sale.
Independent by Design
The Auction Link is not an auction house and I don't conduct auctions myself.
Instead, I work independently with established auction houses operating across different sectors of the UK and international property markets.
My role is to understand the property and its circumstances and, where I believe auction may be worth exploring, make an introduction to an auction house whose model and market may be suited to the opportunity.
From that point, the auction house deals directly with the property owner or their representative, providing its own assessment, proposed strategy, valuation, fees and terms. The decision to proceed always remains with the property owner.
Why Auction?
I believe auction is one of the most powerful — and sometimes underused — ways of trading property.
A well-structured auction creates a defined moment of sale, concentrates buyer interest and, where there is competition, allows the market to help determine value.
But its success depends on matching the property with the appropriate auction model and the right audience. That is the idea behind The Auction Link: not simply connecting a property with an auction house, but recognising that different properties require different approaches.
